Summertime

The sun shines again
Announcing summer’s presence
But this time, it doesn’t feel the same
Wasn’t last summer when it all began
When the warmth of the sun began to wane
Is this summer trying to mock me
Trying to resurface my glassy pain
In tears disguised as rain
Is this summer just to tease my tastebuds
To contrast the horrid frigid cold
Is this summer to remind me
Of all those summers ago
When I didn’t discriminate against the seasons
Loved both the dandelions and the snow
Now I’ve changed my colours
Become a part of time
Swept away like the leaves in autumn
Wilting in the buds of rhyme
I guess my favourite season
Is the one in which I survive.
