Swiftly flutter

In search of a safe space,

Searching further,

Than we ever did face.

Buzzing beyond a world we once knew,

Racing to find a place to rest for a few.

Paper nests, once there we will make,

Humans find us, quick, fly and make haste.

Pyrethrum is coating our wings and our homes,

We must warn the others they must protect their own.

"Stop" I hear, A call from the door,

"They're pollinating, Leave them be, just as before.

These wasps my dear, they are misunderstood,

Their goal in life is not to sting as you would"

The man at the door, he took in a deep breath,

Then turned to see our wings zip past his chest.

Headed for the lavender, fragrant and violet,

We rest our sore wings, switch to auto-pilot.

We made it through this strife, live to see another day,

Spring air awakens life, pollen fills sky once grey.
