The Amazon: Land of lush and green

         West to us, there is a land of lush and green.

             It holds life, some that we have not seen.

Imagine cities of trees and sparkling blue rivers that stream north. 

          This is the Amazon: a land of lush and green.

             It makes me happier than I've ever been.

         The air feels like life and the plants seem happy.

                           Though, are they? 

        Is the Amazon truly the land of lush and green?

           Machines surge through the forest every day,

            Roaring angrily and tearing life apart.

When the tigers try to defend their homes, gunshots are all they hear.

When the birds try to fly away, their wings are ripped apart by bullets.

          Is the Amazon truly the land of lush and green?

                    The truth is…I don’t know.
