Each of my homes is a stanza
But it is not always an extravaganza
Some in the city, some on a farm
They all make me feel happy and calm

Monkey the cat curled up on the bed
I wonder what’s going on in his head
Is he happy or is he sad?
Maybe he is even mad

As the birds fly around
On the homeward bound
Tweeting in the bright blue sky
Beating their wings like they’re waving “hi”

The dogs bark at the cats
While the cats simply sit on their mats
The dogs run around the garden
But when we call “food!” they stop as if to say “Pardon?”

The cats run along the fields catching mice which they find
Kitten bounding along slowly  behind
The cow moo is happiness
As the sheep run around in craziness
