The Bear

It was a hot and sunny day,
So I went to quench my thirst.
As I watched the water trickerling down the stream,
A deep rumbling growl from the bushes made me fear the worst.
I closed my eyes and whispered to myself,
Don't be a bear, I can't run that fast.
The growl got deeper and the bushes were trembling,
Please oh please please, don't let this day be my last.
I could hear the grumbles coming from its stomach,
Oh gosh it's hungry, I'm going to be lunch!
Maybe I'll rub this mud all over me,
It will smell me and realise it won't like me as much.
The bush rustled some more
As I could see its ears pop out.
"Perhaps it will be startled,
If I scream loud and shout."
Its paws draped over the green and brown leaves,
Now was the time to run away.
But then something even weirder happened,
The large scary beast proceeded to say:
"Help me help me, I'm stuck in this bush,
Is anyone out there I think I'm stuck."
Confused at first, I slowly approached the bush,
But I recognised that voice, oh what luck!
I reached into the bush,
And moved the branches to the right.
But who did I find instead of a bear?
My sister in her teddy onesie, oh my gosh she gave me a fright!
She was hiding eating cake,
That we brought for our treat.
I helped her out and we sat by the river,
And I look back and laugh that I was almost bear meat.
