The black cockatoo

The black cockatoo glides through the blanket of darkness.
It glistens like a bright star, shining with happiness and joy.
It is as fast as a horse as it glides so high.
As loud as a cyclone, it sings its morning song as night turns into day, there’s no time to play.
It shakes its wings like a wet hairy dog.
The black cockatoo fills its nest with feathers and special souvenirs.
It sets off again to collect more memories for its family’s nest. The nest gets bigger as the black cockatoo's family grows.
Finally night has arrived. The sounds of the neighbouring birds die down and give way to the crickets that cheep all night long.
Such a lovely and soothing sound.
