The Camp

The cold breeze blew across my face as I set up my swag
We found wood below the trees to burn with ease
Smoke filled the air and looked like a white blanket
The fire sounded like gunshots as it crackled
We watched the ripples in the water
Waiting patiently for fish to bite
While sitting around the fire listening to the splashes in the water
The fish were biting and bells on rods were jingling
As the night falls the moon shines through the pines
As the light aligned on the fire as the sausages sizzle
Walking through the bush our feet crunching on leaves
Listening to the twigs snapping from the kangaroos
The scratching from the foxes on the white dirt
The birds flying around as you drift off to sleep
Waking up to the sun beaming onto the swags scorched me
Stepping out to the frost on the grass as it makes a little crunch every step you take
As the suns comes up over the trees the shadows disappear
You look at the water and imagine how cool it would feel to swim
As the sun rises you look for more shade to sit under
The sun glistening as the water reflects its face
