The Cross-Of Life

Right from when I was born, it was there, placed upon me
A delicate silver chain wrapped around my neck
A fragile clasp piecing two ends together
A gold circle connecting the dazzling pendant and the silver chain
Tiny diamonds backed onto a white gold cross
Right from when I was born, it was there, placed upon me
The cross, reminding me of someone watching from somewhere else
A heavenly place, to feel free and calm
I wear it when I can
It can take back to my happiest memories
I wore it for luck, to walk and to talk
Right from when I was born, it was there, placed upon me
Never once broken it stayed with me
It was always there for me
As the day descends
And the evening arrives
I kept it by me
All through the night
Given as a gift from God, kept as a memory
Right from when I was born, it was there, placed upon me
