A spiked menace stalks it’s prey,

Six-legged prey of silver-grey.

Gold and bronze cover it's skin.

Beautiful, it stands out among it’s kin.

A false head to hide from death,

It’s true head to steal it’s opponents final breath.

Defensive spikes form a tough barricade,

The Thorny Devil never needs aid.

It puffs out it’s chest,

To protect it’s nest.

The Thorny Devil skillfully stores water,

When it drinks it’s life grows longer.

The Thorny Devil digs faster and faster.

Finally the burrow has a new master.
