The Dirty River

I chug along at a very quick pace, killing and saving hundreds.
I give earth its uniqueness and I give seas its abundance.
I can be very violent when my current dashes through me,
I can be calm and happy when the humans tickle me.
The snorkel divers bring their gear and search me in and out,
How many wonders do I have, right under my own snout?
I carry a tub full of waste, dead fish and bacteria,
Is this the human’s payback, is this their criteria?
They fill me up with rubbish,
Why all that pain and punishment?
While all the people giggle and chuckle,
I take my time to crack my knuckles.
I complain to Mother Earth about me living in the shadows,
But nobody wants to help me; I'm the lowest of the low.
I plead all day and all night long,
As the cheerful birds all sing their song.
The generations pass on by,
I gently and softly give a sigh.
Hopefully, one hopeful day,
A mindful person will save my day.
