The Elephant Crystal

I stared at the elephant crystal
as it outshone moonlight and daylight
just like my aunt had outshone
my own sorrows and worries

I can only faintly remember
her smiles and laughs, her loving words and hugs
her kiss on the nose and the usual pat on the head
It all had me laughing and smiling more than ever before.

I can remember that significant time
when she gave me the elephant crystal
and when I had hugged her tightly,
crying with happiness

I look up into the direction
where I think my parent’s homeland is
and wonder…..
even after so many years
if my Aunt still remembers
the little girl and her elephant crystal
