The Enemy in the Mirror

A canvas painted with azures and cobalt blue, dotted with a symphony of colours.
A once beautiful home, destroyed, they all cry in agony.
A clear sneering enemy,
Choking, like a grasping hand tightening its murderous grip.
What’s our solution for ocean pollution?
A jellyfish, content and free,
Enemy approaches, a turtle, ravenous, hollow in its stomach.
Stood before her a transparent foe,
Her throat tangled and closed, fighting to let go.
What’s our solution for ocean pollution?
Broken hearts and broken plastics.
We feel both in our bloodstream.
Fish eat the plastic and we eat the fish,
Swallowing our nature’s downfall.
What’s our solution for ocean pollution?
Mother nature gifted her oceans with freedom,
Much like you and me.
Our ocean shares her freedom with her creatures
Our freedom we use to destroy her home,
Our freedom we use to destroy her soul.
