The Forest

You see a beautiful glimmering forest,
then you don’t. 
Trucks banging, animals scattering,
trees falling a couple at a time.
Machines going all day and night, 
in the morning the creatures come back.
They see nothing but a brown surface, 
no glimmer, and no happiness.
