her heart was like the ocean,
beautiful, vast and free.
she was a home to my soul
a lost fish in her sea.

people called her entranced
said she didn’t have a clue
but it was they who were lost
and she who was true
she saw the beauty in the world
so she left to chase it.
she followed the sun
and welcomed the moonlight
you see it was me who was trapped
chained by the views of others
and it was her hope and freedom
that made me start to wonder
i longed to travel
to be like her
to walk through life
not in a blur
it started with a rose
tattooed to her wrist
fuelled her fire
told her not just to ‘exist’
she told me to be adventurous
there’s a world to get lost in
she said ‘hold your head up high,
cause courage ain’t a sin.’

the girl with the rose tattoo;
she inspired me
to chase every star
and follow every dream
