The grand final trophy in my hand
The marble base leads to a column of fire
On top stands the victorious soccer player with his ball
Thinking back through the year
How quickly it passed
I close my eyes and remember
The early mornings when it was dark
The late nights when it was cold
My sprained ankles and bruised knees
The aching muscles after a game
And as I stand on the muddy field
I hear the roar of the crowd
The line of victory and losing is quite clear
We played our hearts out
And earned our prize.
