The ground beneath us holds many secrets,

The possibilities of what it will be and what it actually was.

It could turn into a wild farm of ants,

Or a place where the deer love to prance.

Maybe a sunshine meadow of green,

A place where endangered animals have been.

It could've been a lovely lake,

Or maybe it was a place for a dangerous snake.

It might’ve been a rocky beach,

Or it could’ve been an evergreen forest within the sky’s reach.

The present is what we should cherish,

Since who knows what might’ve happened or will happen.

Disease could’ve spread,

Healthy trees turning dead.

A bird might’ve been shot,

The weather could've turned too hot.

The fish could’ve gone missing,

Since there was so much overfishing.

But we can’t stop the past and predict the future,

But we can try to make our world just a little better.
