The long silver metal chain sits familiarly
around my neck as if it was meant to be there

The beautiful silver lock at the end
fits so perfectly in the palm of my hand

Decorated with engraved swirls and flowers,
looking as if they came from someone’s sketch book

Opening it up, there are two completely empty spaces
Not unlike the two halves of my heart

Something that used to be so special and mean so much
now just sits on a shelf, forgotten, but not without reason
