The Human Effect

My nimble body leaps;
Leaps by the ocean as the audacious clear waves crash against my ankles
The ocean acts as glue
As a bond, bringing animals and plants together;
Creating the perfect harmonious ecosystem
But, it was naïve, like me 
Crystal clear and energetic
A clear mind
Unaware of what was in store
Joyful and filled with glee
Coral, bright and bold;
Covered up and shielded from the world
Through a force of protection
But as years go on, we fade from our former self 
Sad and tainted from what humans have done
I lie there, sad and traumatised by our dreary fate
And the polluted water stands dead and silent 
Unravelling time, waiting, hoping:
We stand;
Stand changed for life, by The Human Effect
