The Locked Drawers

Everyday I wonder
What could be inside
No key but a key hole
Key, why must you hide?
I've looked for a key
Searching everywhere for it
And when I finally find a key
Alas, it doesn't fit.
So then I sit down and think
What would be in there
Would it be a weapon
From an evil villain's lair?
Or maybe it would be jewels
From a rich king
With priceless stones
That make the bluebirds sing
But what if nothing at all
Is in the drawers with no key?
Empty and boring
Plain as you can see.
But when I find that key
If the day will ever come
I hope it will be worth it
Not finding old chewing gum.
So key, wherever you are,
From where you are hiding come out.
Please don't hide from me still
Because finding you is what I'm all about.
