In the wooden display case at home,
Lives my special academic medal,
It has a hand holding a trophy symbolizing victory,
Leaves border the edge holding it as one piece,
A black and gold ribbon is attached to it.

On the back is my name class and year,
Cold metal soothes my skin as I touch it,
It may look like a dull, boring and lifeless thing,
But, to me it is worth more than gold,
I got it in the first year of my school,

It me great memories of my past,
The pride on my parents faces,
Telling me that this is only the beginning,
To grab all opportunities with both hands,
It shall always be by my side.

It will bring me good luck,
It comes to my aid when I need it,
So I am happy that I have achieved it,
Out of my own hard work,
And shall always….always be my best friend.
