As the lake lies still tonight

Night elegantly curtaining across the skies,

The pale crescent moon reflecting upon the gentle tides

Listen! Hear the soft, cadent roar

Tides of water that draw back, and crash upon the straits,

My worries web away with the rhythm of the ripples,

When despair approaches with its icy grin

And I wake at night in the merciless cold

I go and rest by the shore

Relishing those moments of bliss

As the lake lies still tonight

I submerge my legs into the warm depths of water
And feel something quickly brush against my thighs

Taking me by surprise

Truly, we live with mysteries too marvellous to be understood

I wade in the shallow waters and wonder

A comforting voice is calling; the cold  leaves my bones

The lake whispers in my ear the mysteries of the world

I gaze at this mirror that separates the waters and the skies

As the lake lies still tonight
