The basin, my heart, my soul,

when I think of home she is whom I think of

Her mangroves thriving

her animals living the greatest lives they can live

her beauty too great to comprehend

a sugar glider, a small arboreal, and nocturnal creature

lucky enough to call this heavenly place its' home

feasting on all the fruits and nuts this land has to offer

but her land, her beauty, her creatures will be no more

global warming is threatening our river

threatening her life

her animals will be forced to migrate to new places

forced to find a new home

forced to leave the river

the basin, our heart, our soul.
