The Numbat

I have a stripy back like a zebra,
I can see the sunlight glistening through the leaves.
When can I roam around without worrying?
I can sense a predator approaching from behind.
I trudge through eucalypt woodlands and forests,
I hear the leaves whispering in the wind.
I hide in dark shallow logs.
When will I be able to find food peacefully?
The sunlight shines down onto the log,
I'm munching on baby termites.
I see the trees swaying peacefully in the cold night air.
When will we get some help?
I hear footsteps in the distance,
I run with others to find shelter.
I feel cold and frightened.
I sense a predator approaching from behind.
