On the Old Gum tree, the kookaburras laugh

Tall and towering, the tree is king of the bush.

Climbing the Old Gum Tree, the koala thinks it's tall enough

To safely have a meal, where kookaburras don’t know the word shush.

Below the Old Gum Tree, a creek snakes its way down the land

Where a platypus is having lots of fun.

A redback, with no shortage of hands,

Is watching the sunset with the golden sun.

Above the Old Gum Tree, the cockatoos fly.

An emu carefully watches.

He wishes to fly,

But alas, he knows he will not, but he still watches

Next to the Old Gum Tree, men with chainsaws approach.

Kookaburras, koalas, platypuses, spiders, cockatoos, and emus flee.

“Cut it down!” A man ordered like a coach.

In the end, it was just another cut-down tree.
