The Orange Bellied Parrot

The belly as orange as the blazing sun.
The feathers, an elegant show of colours
flying gracefully along the beach.
Crying out its beautiful song of peace and harmony.
When you spread your wings your colours burst out.
The green that covers you all over,
The blue you hide under your wings.
The belly, orange, like a majestic tiger.
Oh, so few of you left,
it breaks my heart in two.
As I sit I wonder how long do you have left on this planet?
The fluffy feathers of this bird
The beak as dark as the night sky
Your sharp claws scratch me
But I don’t mind
Oh how I will miss you when you are gone
My majestic little friend
