The Perilous Plot of the Western Ringtail Possum

Scuttle, scurry, the Western Ringtail Possum has to hurry.

The quick-smart fox has tracked down the possum, 

He sniffed out the urine, he sniffed out the nest.

The critically endangered species hides from the big bad pest.

The peppermint tree trunk is wrapped in a blanket of greeny blue moss.

Healthy green leaves on the tree hang down as skinny as pencils. 

Eyes like little black soccer balls peek out from the small thin leaves. 

A tail hangs down like a long curly noodle,

The tail like a river with sand at the tip.

Soft pointy brushed ears twist and turn listening for the fox.

Cute cuddly creature, soft fur, so innocent and shouldn't be harmed like this. 

Up high clinging in the Peppi tree, the little possum in its habitat. 

The Western Ringtail Possum says I need help!

A human walks past and scares the fox away.
