The prettiest bird in the world

The Gouldian Finch is as pretty as can be,

If you went to northern Australia.

But if you’ll agree with me,

It’s in great danger of being an extinct species.

This bird has a cheerful song,

Its vocal chords stretch high.

Its cheerful chirps and fluttering feathers,

Makes it a singing rainbow.

It has vivid colours as rainbow - like as can be,

Red, orange, gold, black, blue and green.

Lands on plants with new life,

Whilst paperbark is shredding its skin.

Its little feet,

Grab and cling to twigs.

But it spies a little bug,

And springs off to grab it.

Now please listen to me,

This bird is in great danger.

Colourful like a rainbow and as special as gold,

People leap like springs to see this bird which is as rare as bronze.
