The Reef

The water glistens above my head
I see tonnes of blue and green
As a wave pours down over me
I wonder if I’ll ever go back
I feel the water run over me
Like the wind blowing onto my face on a windy day
I witness the colour of the coral
Like neon lights shining in a dark room
The waves crashing down on the water's surface
Like glass breaking on the floor
Making a current, slowly pulling me down
A sea turtle slowly glides past
Can I go home now?
I question her
Do you think you're ready to leave?
Replied the turtle
I regretfully swam back to the shore
The water glistens above my head
I see tonnes of blue and green
As a wave pours down over me
