A magnificent, agile bird.

Yellow and black, gliding through the air.

A bumblebee in the wild.

Weaving through the forest as it glides.

Although beautiful, the Regent Honeyeater is endangered.

Feeding on sweet nectar, chewing on exotic fruits.

The Honeyeater is a quiet mouse.

When the eucalyptus flowers,

it is time to breed.

The baby is born in an egg, groups of two or three.

In the nest, all together. When the nest fails, some of the babies die.

The babies which live to see another day,

grow up to be an adult.

They leave their nest, a group following behind.

Finding food to live on their own.

Dodging through the trees,

The Honeyeater misses branches and logs and lands safely.

Gathering sticks for the nest,

which is now finished,  ready for eggs to be laid.
