The River

A speedy skink skims past.

As a cute koala sleeps

an orange fox runs by 

and eats the skink.

An eastern long-necked turtle swims

in the murky green water. 

A blue-tongue lizard rushes past

like a race car.

Running

to the riverbank.

The fox

hot on its heels.

The blue-tongue

hides in a lush green bush.

The fox runs off thinking the 

lizard went somewhere else.

The long-necked turtle comes up to

the sand and lays its eggs.

Soon they will hatch

and grow.
