It was made in the eighteenth century,
For the high and upper class gentry,
It has met many faces and been many places,
Including our politicians and all their impositions.

The settee has been there, been seen, and even met the queen,
It has travelled the oceans and felt their many motions,
It had many covers of many different colours,
It now has a tasteful shade of British racing green,
A mahogany frame is adorned in proper velvet,
Witnessing world events, of the intriguing and the intense,
Fashions of change and three passing digits in its age.
