Gliding, swimming, swaying

Swimming through an ecosystem full of life,

Gliding through a place where I make strife,

Swaying from side to side searching for a meal,

A turtle, a whale or maybe a seal.

I spot one, a shadow seems like something I’ll like, now I’m just waiting…

For a good time to strike!

My moment comes, I leap in the air, I've got the seal, but I see a flare.

Whack! It hits me, splash! I fall. I’ve been shot with a musket and a small metal ball, the hunter comes for me and rips off my fin. Why are they hunting me? I haven't done anything to him.

At last, I sink with the seal in my mouth, with a thump! on the sea bed…

It slips free and starts heading south,

and so I’m left there to rot like a dead tree.

If people just stop and they start to see,

what sort of impact they have on sharks and sea life like me.
