The Sight of a Tree Kangaroo

From the beige fur to the stripes on its furry underbelly,
Its flax limbs glisten in the howling night.
In the lowlands of north Queensland
A rare sighting of the endangered tree kangaroo
Lies under a faraway mountainous rainforest.
This determined creature will do anything to protect its precious home
Among the swaying branches.
Tree kangaroo climbs an extremely tall tree
Then launches itself off immediately.
It spends hours sleeping in the warm day before hunting for moss at night.
A bright burst of yellowish fur spreads from its slim body.
A tree kangaroo is a speed machine when climbing trees
As if it was looking for treasure.
Walking on its steady hind legs
It will roam, trek and even run to find crunchy pink orchids to snack on.
The tree kangaroo drowses peacefully
As its environment crumbles.
