The Spoon of Uluru

This spoon sits in my cupboard,
and reminds me of my trip-
Rough trip-
to Uluru.
Boom!
I see the big red rock sitting all alone.
It’s brother, Kata Tjuta nearby,
with people as happy as sunshine climbing it.
It was a red turtle’s shell,
That went on forever.
On the back, there was an American Indian,
and a snowman, implanted on the orange sea.
All day, dust on our shoes.
Plains in front, behind
and all around for as far as
I could see.
The day we left,
we cleaned our shoes,
and remembered the memories
of Uluru.
