The tide and moon

The tide and moon play tug of war. The whitewashed waves begin to gnaw and bite down onto the sandy shore. A sudden wave surges past and rumbles down the open path. It swirls around beach goers’ feet and shocks a ruffled sea gull fleet. The saturated sand wobbles like a paddle boarder on a wave and slowly releases each footprint made. The sun pulses down in a golden beam and soaks in through the layered sun cream. Some who don’t wear it go a tender red, but others turn a tropical brown instead. In the depths fish squirm away from the swimmer who dive and play. They weave amongst the coral reefs and hide in crannies far beneath. Beware the sea urchins below. The older they get the bigger they grow. They silently wait for a tasty treat and have speared many unsuspecting feet. The fiery orb in the sky shoots a glare into my eyes. It goes from white to yellow to red and finally, sinks into its cloudy bed.
