In the heart of wilderness, a tale unfolds,
A gold rush's shimmer, a story untold.
Men's dreams ablaze, with greed and desire,
But at what cost would this pursuit transpire?
Once tranquil streams, now turned to mire,
The land, scarred deeply by the gold rush's fire.
Trees weep silently, their branches now bare,
As progress ravages with merciless flair.
Birdsongs silenced, displaced from their homes,
Echoes of anguish through desolate zones.
Rivers run crimson, poisoned by greed's taint,
Mother Earth weeping, her cries never faint.
In the wake of progress, a heavy toll paid,
The environment weeps, forever betrayed.
For riches amassed, a cost too severe,
A reminder of choices we should hold dear.
So let us reflect on this sorrowful plight,
And awaken our souls to a compassionate light.
To protect our Earth, her beauty and worth,
Preserving her essence, for all souls' rebirth.
