The Violin

As smooth as the sonorous sea,
its combination of a ginger and earth spiced smell,
created a sense of homeliness.

Its sound was indescribable,
it was twisted.
Reflective of human emotions,
sorrowful and eerie through its whispering-like tonality.

Yet somehow it was as calm and unshakeable as a tide,
forcing the fire inside me to smoulder,
becoming my one source of strength.

Its melody, the silent lyrics of the story of my life,
its rhythm, the beat to my heart.
