The Waterhole
By Adeline M
I walk along the bush track and halt as I hear a soft sound,
Trickle, trickle, trickle,
Curiously I go to check what it was,
I walk around a tree and it reveals the most magnificent waterhole…
My hand brushes the surface of its clear blue waters,
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,
Trees rustling in the breeze,
Hovering over like a watching hawk.
I can’t resist.
Jumping in fully clothed,
SPLASH!
The cold water washes over my face.
I get up and out,
I dry myself off,
As I turn and start to walk away,
All the animals come out.
All the animals crowd around to drink,
They seem to enjoy the water as much as I do.
I walk away smiling to myself,
The waterhole still remains there, to this day.
