The blue glimmer, the glistening shimmer,
Sequins glistening in the bright shiny sun
Just like she did when she was young.
Her childhood over. Womanhood begun.
Almost ready for her night to be done,
Silk dress on, makeup done, hair in the tightest bun.
She smiled at herself in the mirror.
Leaving her room to go down the aisle,
People in tears, so was she.
She sat on the stage full of glee
Grabbing her blue wedding fan with such ease.
Professionally tailored and made for this night,
Matching with her silk dress shimmering in the light.
But when it was time, she handed it over to me
The blue glimmer.
That blue shimmer, waiting for me.
I waved it in the sun, it glistened
Just like grandma did. When she was the bride
Of the night.
