There's a monster under your bed,

And that monster is you,

The one you're too scared to stand up to,

Like an incurable flu,

The inner darkness that you're unable to fight,

It's like a lightbulb with no light.

The frightening thought is certain to scare your sleep away,

A thought that is quite grey.

The timid voice inside your head will soon grow to a roar.

The constant agony in your heart will hurt more and more.

There is no escape,

Like a rotten grape.

Unless, in the midst of darkness, there is light.

Suddenly, you have the courage to fight.

There's a monster under your bed,

And that monster is you,

Except this time there's no one to save you

But you.
