Thieves

This road you see,
this did not always be.
They stole the territory,
the world, the life of the species, far eastern curlew
was quickly declined, now there are few.
The shore bird lived peacefully until,
we invaded and took more than our fill.
The bird was left,
weakened by theft
in ruined territory.
But we kept coming,
we did not stop,
we stole the land
then made it a barbecue.
Ravaged the sand,
ruined the life of the far eastern curlew.
The coast you see,
this was not meant to be.
If we had listened to the cry of the earth
no species would have become dearth.
