This Tree

Today, this tree stands tall.
Tomorrow, this tree shall not fall.
Tomorrow’s tomorrow, it will continue to be a home for all
And three days from now, it’s still a place for creatures big and small.
In a month or two this tree will gloom.
In another three this tree will bloom.
With a woosh and a rustle its green leaves dance and fall,
Joining in are the chirps and the twitters of a bird's call.
This tree may be as strong as a bear,
But this tree still needs our care.
This tree may not shine like a dime,
But this tree still deserves our time.
Its branches hold my hand in theirs,
Before it withers and tears.
Please, hold your hand in mine.
Help save this tree from its execution,
For this tree is innocent, it has committed no crime.
Save this tree, leave it be
And there’ll be a new year for it to see.
