To this we attribute

What was once clean and green
Is now far from pristine.
The trees sway from side to side
These trees are what give us life.
But we are stripping them down branch by branch
They are disappearing fast like an avalanche.
With every fire that comes our way
An animal loses its home on that day.
A twig, then a branch, then a trunk and its roots
To this we attribute.
Then tree after tree falls down
And in its replacement a new town.
