Toy Dog

Tangled fur of ochre,
One wobbly eye,
Well-worn and much loved,
Hung by his ears on the washing line.
Tiny world traveller,
In the arms of a child,
Travelling everywhere with her family,
To where temperatures were mild.
Now my scruffy dog,
Sits completely tucked away,
My other old friends covered him
until this very day.
