The golden shine turns darkness to light
Ribbon styling of blue and white
I won it in a hard fight
It was presented on very cold night
But my pride kept me warm inside
Stays safe everyday and night
Lives on my mantel piece hanging on a hook.
It has a plaque on the back that arises up the memory
of winning the league
With the triumph comes the sadness of losing the grand final.
If only it could talk
The only story it would tell
Was how I won him this year in a lovely season
Of hard work, commitment and determination
The memories we have share great and greater
Every time I have dropped it on the ground
And if I lost it I would search until I had found it
Look down on my chest the glory I can see
This little medal will always be safe with me
Just look at the gold and the league champion medal is seen
A shiny glance at the glorious medal
This small medal would be broken with a tiny drop
So precious and so valuable with a slight drop
It would become memories in a flash
And I am hopeful today is not that day.
As I am late for my soccer club presentation night.
