War torn

Taken back by time and History.
A forest on a country road in Europe.
The trees still bear the scars from a forgotten battle
that happened more than 8 decades ago
with the woodlands being the only thing to remember.
Rusty, rugged, rotten helmets
that Mother Nature is reclaiming
what was taken from her depths.
Artillery craters as big as garden sheds
hidden by undergrowth.
The skies blue once again.
Dirt, dust hopefully never to rise the way it did.
Fauna and flora, the only living thing here.
Just the way it should be.
Nature the one to rule them all.
