Warmth

I remember the warmth, the sun that shone above my head,
The feeling of sand beneath my feet along the beach spread.
The feeling of comfort and joy evaporated too quick,
Staring at the flames of what I thought was a trick.
I remember the trees, bright flames engulfed them all,
The sight of them falls, no longer so tall.
The sand on the beach, the only shield that was there,
Forever I will watch them, forever I’ll stare.
I’ll never forget the flames so high,
That day that I watched it all fly by.
I regret just staring, feeling warmth from the firewall,
And perhaps that warmth wasn't so warm after all.
