Wati Dhuwal Makurr-gu (The Worimi Fishing Tree)

I see one of the finest oceans right in front of me,
with guparr (dolphins) jumping in pods in the primest water.
The shiny sand and the nice green grass surround me.
I hate being right next to the beach.
When it is windy, I get destroyed by sand.
I fear the termites, and when there is a campfire around.
People with axes coming right towards me,
I think they are gonna come and cut me down.
When I look out in the crystal-clear water, I get that smell of dead makurr (fish).
darawang, gupirr, and djarrawarra (Flathead, Bream and Jewfish)
An hour later the smell is amazing,
the makurr is cooked fresh from the sea.
I always have marks on me, like bruises.
They all climb on me to find animals
wambuyn, mitukit eggs and bilu (Kangaroo, Emu eggs and Possum)
So that is the day of my life - being a tree.
