We hope to have a future

Every day, the sun glows in the cerulean sky and the sky is blue.
Will children share this vision in the future?
Or do they face a portrait of red, grey nothingness?
You hold the paintbrush, you can decide.
Everyday, when the table is set, there is so much to eat.
When we grow up,what will we put on the table?
Toxic waste and plastic bags will be your feast.
Bon appetit, this is what your carelessness created.
Coral seas and huge forests will become a memory. We see now, will never exist when you die.
When children grow, what will they see? What will they learn?
Green grass and colourful flowers? Or floods and droughts?
A dream or a nightmare- the choice is yours.
Everyday, you gulp down mouthfuls of water.
Smacking your lips in satisfaction.
Perhaps you’d like to taste the toxic sludge that remains,
When water is scarce no matter how wealthy you are, mere decades from now.
In our future, we surely want to see or wondrous world still intact.
In our future, we want to frolic in flourishing meadows.
In our future, we want our families to live in God’s creation.
In our future, we hope to have a future.
