I glide through the landscape, like the breeze I am free,
I deliver fresh water, to nourish the trees.
While I may look quite gentle, I move with some force,
I know for life here, I’m an essential resource.

After it rains, I flow freely and fast,
But during long droughts, I fear I won’t last.
The debris on my banks, I leave polished and smooth,
All the years that I’ve roamed here, I’ve left a deep groove.
For birds in the sky, I can guide their path,
And when they’re on land, I’m a place for a bath.

Beneath my dark surface, where I’m nice and cool,
I’m a home for small creatures, like fish in schools.
I’m a place for land critters, in need of a drink,
Even humans sit by me, and take time to think.

I know that they come here, for I am serene,
But I hold the power, to turn everything green.
As night falls, I reflect the moon shining bright,
There is no doubt about it, it’s a wonderful sight.

You may not know my name, I’m not one for glory,
I am a creek, and this is my story.
